How to - Create and Manage Groups

Increase collaboration by creating a lab and inviting your lab members

By creating a collaborative research group using the Groups functionality in FluoroFinder, you'll have more ways share and collaborate on experiments with your colleagues or lab members in one place.

Creating a Group and Inviting Members

To create a Group, navigate to the "Account" menu by clicking the Icon with your name and Account status at the top right of the screen, and selecting "Create Group" from the drop down menu:



Clicking this link will open a data entry box for you to create your group. Follow the prompts, creating a "Group Name" and entering the email addresses of the users you would like to invite to your newly created group. Invitees will receive an email asking them to join your group:

Sharing Experiments to a Group

Once you've created your Group, you may now save new experiments to the group during their creation, or share existing experiments from your personal account.

To share a copy of your already created experiments with a group, navigate to the "Account" menu by clicking the Icon with your name and Account status at the top right of the screen, and selecting "My Experiments" from the drop down menu:



The "My Experiments" page will load. From the drop-down list of your experiments, choose the experiment you would like to share:



Selecting an experiment will load a summary of the experimental details, as well as options for interacting with the experiment:



In the pop-up box, designate a name (new or the same) and save/share destination (your group) for the experiment being shared.

Now that you have an active Group, members may also add panels, copy panels from the Lab into their personal account or collaborate on panels by discussing via comments. If a lab member modifies their own copy of the panel you shared with the lab it will not affect the original that you have saved in your account.


Managing Existing Groups

To view and manage your pre-existing Labs, navigate to the "Account" menu by clicking the Icon with your name and Account status at the top right of the screen, and selecting "Manage Group" from the drop down menu:



Clicking this link will load a page listing each group that you belong to. To manage a particular group, select "Edit" next to the groups name:



The "Edit" page for a group will offer the group's creator the ability to:

  • to modify user permissions to add/remove panels

  • invite or remove users from the group

  • change the group name
