How to use the Dye Directory
An overview of the functionality of FluoroFinder's Dye Directory, and an in-depth review of its various features
FluoroFinder's Dye Directory houses detail on the various fluorescent dyes in our system, with information on excitation and emission characteristics, optimal laser and filter sets, common applications, and more. We regularly update this area of the site, so check back often for updates!
A user arriving at the Dye Directory landing page will be presented with an interface allowing them to search for fluorophores based on a variety of characteristics. The following filters may be used together or individually to narrow fluorophore search results:
Fluorophore name - searching for a fluorophore by name will return results matching (or partially matching) your entered search term.
Excitation Range - specifying a range of excitation wavelengths will provide results of fluorophores that have peak excitations within the specified range
Emission Range - specifying a range of emission wavelengths will provide results of fluorophores that have peak emissions within the specified range
Letter Filters - clicking any of the individual letter filters (depicted below) will show only those fluorophores that begin with the chosen letter. In the image below, 'A' has been selected:
Reset Filters - clicking this button will reset any filters you've already applied
Clicking the name () or "Details" button (
) next to a fluorophore's entry will open a page containing more details about the associated fluorophore (see "Dye Directory - Fluorophore Entries" for more details
