Dye Directory - Fluorophore Entries
For each entry in the dye directory, there is a corresponding "Dye Profile" page that houses the details about that particular dye.
In this example, we'll be referencing the "Dye Profile" for Alexa Fluor 488
At the very top of the Dye Profile we can see a summary of the details we know about Alexa Fluor 488 (not all properties may be available for all fluorophores):
- The primary laser line for excitation
- Commonly used detection filters
- Excitation Max
- Emission Max
- Extinction Coefficient
- Quantum Yield
- Molecular Weight
- Primary antibodies conjugated to the dye in FluoroFinder's database
- Secondary antibodies for conjugation in FluoroFinder's database
- Available conjugation kits
- Services involving the use of the dye
Beneath this header, you will find a short description of the dye:
And subsequently, a Spectra Viewer displaying the Excitation and Emission profile of the dye:
If the dye has homologous dyes (with highly similar excitation AND emission profiles) they will be listed as "Alternative Dyes" to your chosen dye. Clicking the checkbox next to an "Alternative Dye" will cause it to be shown as an overlay on the spectra viewer. An example of this functionality, overlaying the alternative dye "STAR488" on our chosen "Alexa Fluor 488" is shown below
If the fluorophore has other fluorophores with similar emission profiles (but potentially different excitation profiles), those dyes will be listed as "Dyes similar to <chosen dye>" below the spectra viewer. Clicking the checkbox next to a "Dye similar to <chosen dye> based on emission" will display that dye's excitation and emission profile over that of your chosen dye. An example of this functionality, overlaying the "Dye similar to Alexa Fluor 488 based on emission" "Brilliant Violet 510" is shown below:
Finally, at the bottom of the page, popular antibodies conjugated to your chosen fluorophore will be shown:
